introduction
My love of horses and the Old West began over 50 years ago when I got my first of many horses and spent Saturday afternoons watching all the old western movie heroes bringing law and order to the Old West. My lifetime affair riding top Western horses in national-rated competition and the Pasadena Rose Parade led to my collecting silver parade saddles over the past 20 years.

Christie’s, the world’s leading auction house, founded in 1766, conducts auctions all over the world in 80 categories. I was selected as an independent appraiser for Christie’s in 1997 due to my expertise in the category of saddles and western collectibles. I have a gracious letter from the President of Christie’s thanking me for my help. With regard to silver saddles, I love the thrill of chasing them and the excitement of discovering them for our museum.

Important for Silver Saddle Collectors To Save Money

In the May 2010 Western Horseman magazine, a top horse trainer and collector, Mr. Caldwell, provided a list of his high quality fair priced craftsmen, which he recommends.

Part of the pride of being a silversaddle collector with many contacts is sharing those craftsmen, who I believe do high quality work at a very fair price, with my fellow collectors.  As an example, I was quoted $2,500.00 to make a corona blanket by one such craftsman, whereupon my corona maker listed herein does, in my opinion, just as good or a better job at only $550.00 each.  Wow!  The two coronas I just got from her were simply fantastic.  I should know after collecting for over 20 years and having a museum filled with them.

Here is my list for your use.
